Midfield may be a priority for Tottenham Hotspur, but there is no denying that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are also in need of attacking reinforcements following their disastrous 2025/26 campaign.
The team, which was once graced by the performances of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale, saw the efforts of Randal Kolo Muani and others in the last tournament, with the former World Cup finalist scoring the only goal in the Premier League.
But while the Frenchman was in yesterday’s news, De Zerbi now has a chance to build a new front line after a recent downturn across the board.
A year ago, the Lilywhites had the likes of Brian Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo among their options, but the north London outfit could be ready to storm the Premier League with a different target this time around.
Spurs ready to agree £325-a-week deal with World Cup star
It wasn’t that long ago that Spurs went 18 months without making a first-team signing under Mauricio Pochettino, but with De Zerbi now in charge, there’s no chance of that happening again.
The Italian appears to be leading the club’s interest in both Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes, with the club keen to bring both players to the N17 despite having to pay club-record transfer fees for both players.
As for the side, ENIC are expected to bring back Brazilian Savinho, who is expected to leave Manchester City for a fee of around £60 million, in order to achieve their 2025 targets.
But what’s more interesting is that Spurs could be set to raid rivals Manchester United for another talented forward, with journalist Samuel Luckhurst providing an update on their efforts to sign Marcus Rashford.
Luckhurst said United were keen to move the 28-year-old after an 18-month loan spell, with his recent Champions League qualification having seen the Englishman’s wages rise to a hefty £325,000-a-week.
While this figure may be prohibitive for most clubs, the report suggests Spurs are willing to meet the request, with Rashford potentially becoming their top earner.
Such an investment could be supported by Forward’s relatively bargain price, with fees of around £40 million previously mooted.

There is no denying that Tottenham’s attacking line-up is talented, but injuries to the likes of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Kudus last season have meant that it hasn’t continued to show.
The fact that the polarizing Richarlison leads the way in both goals and total goal involvement probably says it all, but the Brazilian has yet to score just 27 league goals since joining for £60m in 2022.
Spurs continue to spend similar amounts of money, whether it’s former Everton players, Solanke or Kudus, with little return on that investment and don’t exactly trust players who have proven themselves at an elite level over an extended period of time.

Rashford, by contrast, has been at the top of English and European football for many years, and while he may have his detractors, it’s hard to argue with his career achievements so far.
The former United wonderland has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for the Red Devils since his debut 10 years ago, and has proved productive during his loan spell, starting with 10 goals in just 17 games at Aston Villa.
Last season, he racked up an impressive 28 goals and assists in just 49 games, 26 of which came in the opening minutes, and could not have done more to impress at Barcelona.
On the international stage, he has started to gain acclaim, scoring three goals at the 2022 World Cup after scoring a win off the bench in England’s opening game against Croatia.
Perhaps it hasn’t been seen consistently enough, but the imposing Rashford is a force to be reckoned with and was labeled ‘unstoppable’ by Erik ten Hag during a 30-goal season in 2022/23.
A frighteningly powerful talent in the final third, he has echoes of the aforementioned Bale in the way he weaves past defenders on the wing or in a central role.
Like the Welshman, the beauty of his game is that there is a final product to match his speed and athleticism, mirroring the now-retired great’s incredible knack for range.
He certainly has Bale’s ability to take dipping shots from long range, including his memorable goal against Wales in Qatar four years ago with a powerful long-range free-kick.
Rashford has the rare ability to win games on his own and enjoyed success at Camp Nou last season, despite La Liga sides being reluctant to sign him permanently.
He has emerged as one of Spain’s big two, alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham and Bale, and has firmly fixed United’s recent struggles.
Now might be the time for Spurs to make a big push to keep him in the Premier League. North Londoners haven’t had such talented forwards since the likes of Kane, Son and Bale of old.
