Few countries have the spotlight shining brighter on their national teams than Brazil. Davide Ancelotti will be very careful about how he deals with the bright lights, but it appears he has offended the Brazilian public. An image of what appears to be his reaction to Neymar Jr.’s appearance during Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland has gone viral in Brazil.

Davide Ancelotti was initially appointed as Botafogo manager after leaving Real Madrid with his father last summer, but his stint was short-lived after just six months. He then returned to his father’s staff for the World Cup as part of Canarinha.

Neymar’s presence at the World Cup has been highly controversial in Brazil, and the Santos forward is unlikely to rejoin manager Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the first time in this tournament. As a result, Chelsea’s Joao Pedro has been disqualified from playing in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, Neymar has been plagued by injuries so far, making his first appearance in the 76th minute of the final group game against Scotland.

David Ancelotti, who was receiving instructions before playing, was seen shaking his head at Neymar with a gloomy expression on his face.

Following the images, David Ancelotti’s family was reported to have been subjected to collective abuse online. Ancelotti’s wife Ana Garrocha responded on social media.

“Do you know that you have completely misunderstood an image that has nothing to do with reality, and for which I have received countless insults since this morning? We are the ones who want Brazil to win most of all.”

After the tournament, manager Carlo Ancelotti plans to remain in Brazil until the 2030 tournament, while David will take up his second senior management role at Lille in France.
