Tonali would be a fantastic signing for Tottenham, who have made a strong start to the summer, bringing in established Premier League players such as Matheus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hekke.
Despite two very poor seasons in a row, there is perhaps reason for optimism at Spurs now, with Tonali insisting that despite transfer rumors and links with other clubs, Spurs are the only club he ever wanted to join.
Sandro Tonali talks about his decision to move to Tottenham
After completing the transfer, Tonali told Tottenham’s website: “I’m very happy to be here. I felt great when I arrived at the club today. People said there were four or five clubs, but there was only one.”
“I spoke to the head coach for almost two hours about the club, the fans, the stadium and our football. It was like magic because I knew right away that I had to sign for Tottenham.”
“I’ve played against Tottenham a few times and there’s always been a great atmosphere created by the great fans. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Sandro Tonali’s heartfelt farewell message to Newcastle fans
Tonali also reportedly expressed his heartfelt thanks to Newcastle fans after they supported him during his time at St James’ Park.
“When things were tough for me, you were there. There was never a day when I felt alone. I felt it every time I went to St. James Park. That’s something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life,” the 26-year-old said, as quoted by journalist Lee Ryder.
Tonali has shone at Newcastle and it will be interesting to see if he can continue his form to join Tottenham next season.
At the moment, the new midfield of Fernandes and Tonali certainly looks very exciting for THFC supporters who are hoping that things will take a turn for the better under new manager Roberto de Zerbi.
