Newcastle United’s exit door is rapidly turning. They started swinging for Anthony Gordon at the start of the window, continued swinging for Sandro Tonali, and still appear to be circling around waiting for Bruno Guimarães.
This is a nightmare for the Magpies and they are left with no choice but to recruit quickly. They have now set their sights on Sevilla’s left-back Oso, with Buzamana Toure having moved on and Johan Manzambi potentially next.

reliability | While the headlines are focused on Guimarães, Newcastle could be in contention for the left-back with Lewis Hall potentially sneaking away from St James’ Park this summer. Then Oso appears. Sevilla have already been contacted by Tyneside, telling their star player to sign a new contract or leave before next season. |
finances | Oso’s valuation is not one of the exorbitant fees floating around the market this summer. It has been reported that Newcastle could sign him for just €10m (£9m) if he fails to sign a new contract in Spain. |
insight | Oso, who is only 23, is an attack-minded left-back who can also play as a winger. Last season, he contributed five La Liga goals for Sevilla, but it wasn’t at the cost of his defence. Oso also won 52% of his duels. |
impact | The arrival of a new left-back will definitely raise a red flag over Hall’s future at Newcastle and perhaps allow a team like Man United to swoop in. |
The Magpies are planning ahead this time too, with Oso’s potential arrival potentially spelling the end of Hall’s career at St James’ Park.
Newcastle begin approach to sign Oso
As reported by Spain’s Vamos Mi Sevilla FC and relayed by Sport Witness, Newcastle have initiated contacts to sign Oso from Sevilla this summer.
The Spanish club have given the defender a deadline to sign a new contract or complete his departure ahead of next season. As it stands, his current contract is set to expire in just under a year, meaning Sevilla only have two more chances to make money.
As such, they are currently in a desperate situation and plan to open negotiations for just €10m (£9m) if Oso fails to put pen to paper by the deadline.
Oso could replace Lewis Hall at bargain price
At a time when talented stars are emerging at premium prices, Oso represents a great market opportunity. For just £9 million, Newcastle could find a replacement for Hall on short notice before cashing in on the England international immediately. It’s a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

Even if he isn’t on the same level defensively as Hall, the numbers show Oso’s offensive potential. The Sevilla man would be a fantastic signing at a bargain price as Eddie Howe looks to reignite the spark in Newcastle’s attack.
