Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Polo has been linked with clubs including Barcelona in recent months.
The 26-year-old right-back recently signed a long-term contract with the north London club and revealed he is very happy at the Premier League club. He is grateful to the club for supporting him and rewarding him for his performances.
“As I said before, I’m very happy at Spurs right now because they supported me,” he said (h/t SportWitness).
“They gave me an update, so I think I earned it, so I’m pretty happy with that.”
“Right now I am concentrating on the national team, my club and the renewal. As I said before, I am very happy. They have given me everything and I am grateful for that.”
The Spanish international has had an outstanding performance in the Premier League and is undoubtedly one of the best right-backs in Europe at the moment. He had a great performance at the World Cup with Spain.
It is no surprise that he is linked with Barcelona. The Spanish champions need more quality in the wide areas and the Tottenham defender could be an exceptional signing for them. However, his contract with the London club runs until 2031, making it extremely difficult for Barcelona to sign him right away. Tottenham would have to pay an exorbitant amount to convince them.
On the other hand, the defender claimed that the future of the footballer can be uncertain and it is not known where he will end up.
“What you said about Barça and everything else, people talk and want what is best for their club.
“Right now I’m focused on the national team and Tottenham. Let’s see what happens tomorrow, because in football you never know what can happen.”
It is clear that the 26-year-old has not ruled out leaving the club in the near future. But Tottenham certainly want to keep a player of his quality at the club for as long as possible.
