Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola has suggested the Reds may need to find a different type of winger to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.
The Egyptian international’s time at Anfield will end at the end of the 2025-26 season, and dealing with Salah’s departure has not been easy for the Reds.

Salah scored an astonishing 257 goals in 442 appearances for the Merseyside giants, leaving Liverpool as one of the greatest players of all time, and indeed the best player in the history of the Premier League, helping them win two titles, the Champions League and other major accolades.
In short, Salah is almost a once-in-a-generation talent, so it will be very difficult for Liverpool to find someone to do what he does.
Andoni Iraola talks about signing Liverpool winger
Iraola seems to be aware of that and has suggested that LFC could consider someone who could strengthen the squad in other ways.
For Iraola’s words on Liverpool’s winger search, see Fabrizio Romano’s X post below…
Romano posted: “Andoni Iraola on signing a new winger: “We need someone in that area, but perhaps with different skills (than Mo Salah). He could complement the team in another way and we are definitely working on that!”

Liverpool appear to be working on finding a replacement for Salah, and it will be interesting to see if there are any concrete updates in the near future.
Will Bradley Barcola be Liverpool’s new winger?
There is currently a lot of speculation that Liverpool are targeting Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.
The France international has shone at the Parc des Princes but may feel he would like to move somewhere where he can play more regularly.
Fabrizio Romano spoke about Liverpool’s interest in Barcola on his YouTube channel and downplayed Arsenal’s relationship with the 23-year-old.
Barcola will not be a direct replacement for Salah, but he will certainly help Iraola rebuild Liverpool’s attack ahead of next season.
