Sam Burns heads into the final round of the 2026 British Open with a two-point lead, but after scoring this week at Royal Birkdale, it feels like anything can happen on Sunday with the Claret Jug on the line. Burns (-10) will tee off alongside Ryan Fox (-8) at 9:20 a.m. ET, and two of the three players with 62s on the men’s major championship record this week will play together in Sunday’s final bracket.

The penultimate group will feature Siu Kim (-8) and Ryan Gerrard (-7) at 9:10am, followed by Lucas Herbert (-7) and Ludwig Oberg (-6) just before that at 9am. In other words, the final three brackets for the final round of the 2026 British Open will feature players aiming for their first major championship, and will be the stage for nerve-wracking battles between players, on the course, and on the field.
Bryson DeChambeau (-6) is the only player in the top 10 to win a major title, and the much-talked-about American star has been a major topic of conversation this week, both for his on-course play and the rules controversy that continued into Friday night. He will tee off at 8:50 a.m. alongside Jackson Suber (-6). Local hero Tommy Fleetwood (-5) didn’t quite make the charge Saturday at Southport, England, that fans had hoped for, but he’s still in the lead with a five-shot lead and is scheduled to tee off at 8:40am with a large gallery hoping to see him win.

Scottie Scheffler (-4) similarly failed to make much of a splash on Saturday and will need to create something special from his 7:45 a.m. pairing with Jose Luis Ballester Barrio (-3).
It was a historic week for England, with three different players (Burns, Fox and Herbert) equaling the major tournament scoring record. We don’t know how the final round will go, but what we do know is that Sunday is sure to deliver plenty of drama in one way or another. A new champion could emerge, or a familiar face could add a new element to his resume. And as we’ve been all week at Royal Birkdale, CBS Sports will be with you all round.
