Arsenal are aiming to sign Nico Williams this summer and are reportedly already in contact with the player.
According to TEAMtalk, they are in contact with Athletic Club regarding a move for the 23-year-old attacker. Williams has proven his quality in La Liga with Athletic Bilbao and has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well.
It’s no secret that Arsenal need more quality in their side, especially after the departure of Leandro Trossard. Even though they have signed Christos Tzoris, more needs to be done in that area of the pitch.
Williams will add explosive speed and talent to the team. He can create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net.
The opportunity to play for Arsenal would be attractive to him. The Spanish international will test himself at the highest level, but it remains to be seen how the situation will develop. Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, has already held talks with the Spanish national team, and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will accept a contract offer for the player.
The 23-year-old recently helped his team win the World Cup by scoring the winning goal in the final.
The attacker’s contract includes a release clause of £77m and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish side are willing to sell him for a reasonable sum. It is highly unlikely that Arsenal would agree to pay him such an amount.
Although Williams is a talented player, his final results at Athletic Bilbao were mediocre, with just 37 goals and 37 assists in 199 appearances for the Spanish club. However, he is a young player and has a lot of room for improvement.
