Manchester United is aiming to secure the signing of Brian Mbeumo in time for him to join the team on their preseason tour in the U.S., according to sources from ESPN.

The club has reached an agreement with the Cameroonian forward from Brentford for a fee exceeding 70 million pounds ($94 million).

Mbeumo has already undergone medical examinations and addressed personal terms ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

Official announcements are anticipated on Sunday or Monday, while Reuben Amorim’s team is set to depart for their training base in Chicago on Tuesday.

United will compete in three matches across the U.S., stopping in Chicago, New York, and Atlanta.

Their preseason started with a scoreless draw against Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday.

Mbeumo will be the second significant signing of the summer, following the acquisition of Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million from Wolves.

The Brazilian made his debut during the match against Leeds in Sweden.

Marcus Rashford is not anticipated to be part of the traveling squad to the U.S. as he nears a loan move to Barcelona.

Negotiations are ongoing for Barcelona to cover Rashford’s entire salary.

This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights Manchester United’s aggressive strategy to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, particularly under the pressure of recent performances. The potential loan of Rashford to Barcelona could reshape the team’s dynamics and open opportunities for other players, making it a pivotal moment in the club’s journey.
