Source: Man United and Chelsea to monitor €65m rated midfielder and possible ‘approach’

Borussia Dortmund’s up-and-coming midfield talent Felix Nmeka caught the attention of several Premier League clubs during the January transfer window.

Industry insiders say Chelsea and Manchester United have shown clear interest, while Tottenham have been tracking him for months and were impressed by his recent appearances against them in the Champions League.

As first reported in my exclusive article in the Daily Briefing, another source added: “Scouts from a number of English clubs have also been keeping a close eye on him in recent weeks.”

But Nmecha’s good form means this trade won’t be easy.

The Germany international is seen as a key piece of Dortmund’s midfield rebuild and there is no release clause in his contract.

Another source explained: “The club’s board wants to secure his long-term future and his current contract runs until 2028 and does not include a release clause. Dortmund are determined to keep him and are considering improving terms to fend off a Premier League approach.”

I have heard that Dortmund will not accept offers below 60-65 million euros. This stance suggests a move in January is unlikely and suggests summer as a more realistic scenario.

United are expected to step up their pursuit at the end of the season, while Spurs will continue to keep an eye on him. Interest from Chelsea is still at an early stage.

Nmeka has hinted in previous interviews that he would welcome a move to England if the right opportunity presented itself. But for now, his focus is on his development at Dortmund, with the club seeing him as a long-term project rather than a quick-money player.
