Aston Villa remain interested in signing Manchester City forward Omar Marmouche, according to a new report from Football Insider.

The Egyptian international, who caused a stir with his big-money move from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Etihad, is reportedly on the radar of manager Unai Emery as the Villans look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming summer.

Villa’s success in the winter market has not diminished their admiration for the versatile forward.

With City managing a crowded squad, Marmouche is said to be weighing his options in search of a new challenge that could see him command a starting role.

Aston Villa interested in Omar Marmouche

Speaking on Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke sheds light on the long-standing interest from the West Midlands club.

He pointed out that Villa’s recruitment team has been tracking the Egyptian for some time.

“There was some interest in Marmouche from several clubs in the January window,” O’Rourke explained.

“Aston Villa considered it before signing Tammy Abraham. If the player himself feels the need to move, there will be clubs at home and abroad who will be interested in the Egyptian in the summer.”

But Mr O’Rourke warned that separating himself from the reigning champions would not be cheap.

“It’s not an easy deal. He has three years left on his contract and City spent a lot of money to sign him from Frankfurt.”

Marmouche struggled for several minutes.

Despite his undeniable talent and explosive speed, Marmouche is finding it difficult to replace the established stars in Pep Guardiola’s line-up.

Since his high-profile arrival from the Bundesliga, the forward’s playing time has been limited to rotation in domestic cup matches and cameo appearances late in games.

The lack of rhythm has been frustrating for a player who arrived in England with a reputation as one of Europe’s most clinical transitional threats.

This season he has only started seven games in the Premier League and two in the Champions League. In terms of performance, he has played in 33 games, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists.

Aston Villa, who are likely to qualify for the Champions League for a second successive season, could provide Marmouche with the foundation he needs to repeat the form that initially made him a superstar in Germany.

With summer approaching, all eyes are on whether Villa Park will be his next destination.
