Bayern Munich’s manager, Vincent Kompany, has stated that their upcoming Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain could be the toughest test of the tournament, yet he expressed no desire to face anyone else.

“It’s tough to say this because they’re the Champions League winners. While I don’t want to undermine any other teams in the tournament, they are undoubtedly a formidable opponent,” he commented on Friday.

“Having come off a successful streak, there’s every reason to expect tomorrow will be their best performance. That kind of challenge is what athletes thrive on. If given the chance to select an opponent as a competitive player, you’d choose a winner like them.”

Bayern Munich advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Flamengo 4-2 in the round of 16, entering the next stage of the tournament with high confidence. Despite the challenges posed by the Champions League champions, the former Premier League defender is eager for the match as an active player.

“If I were a player, I’d be eagerly anticipating this match. You can’t assume victory; you need to bring your best game,” he noted.

Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Luis Enrique, stated that he sees no favorites ahead of tomorrow’s clash and aims for an “open game” with both teams on the offensive.

“I believe our teams are quite alike. They exhibit resilience, particularly when they’re on the attack. Tomorrow’s match will feature offensive plays from both sides,” Enrique explained.

“I doubt there will be the controls we usually see in our matches, which will lead to a more dynamic game. This should be more enjoyable for fans, even though it might not be the ideal tactical approach for us. We understand the quality of our opponents,” he added.
