On Monday afternoon, August 11th, it was announced that former Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jack Johnson has agreed to a professional tryout (PTO) contract with the Minnesota Wild.

Johnson, now 38 years old, played parts of six seasons with the Kings from 2006 to 2012 before moving on to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also had stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Over his career, Johnson appeared in 1,228 games, notching 77 goals and 265 assists, totaling 342 points.

Looking to extend his lengthy career, Johnson hopes to secure a contract with a new team.

Fan Take: This signing is significant for hockey enthusiasts as it represents the persistence and dedication of a veteran player aiming to make a comeback. Johnson’s experience and skill could bring valuable depth to the Wild, adding excitement and leadership to the team’s defense.
