Amanda Anisimova shook the ghosts of Wimbledon by defeating the second Iga Swiecsk in the US quarterfinals that opened Wednesday. Swiatek not only defeated Anishimoba in the Wimbledon Finals in July, but also lost one match on the biggest stage of the sport in a match that lasted just 57 minutes.

Wednesday’s rematch appeared early as if it were going roughly the same, with Swiatek immediately scoring an Anisimova serve break on the opening set. Rather than making it an early misfortune, Anisimova fought on a break immediately before finishing the set with a break to win 6-4.

Swiatek’s frustration appears to be visible towards the second set, and Anisimova utilizes by continuing to bully Swiatek around the court with a strong forehand and a solid, consistent serve after Swiatek opened the set on a break again.

Swiatek has scored a break as he has instead controlled the match and is trying to close things by getting the ball with Swiatek, who needs to go down 4-3 in the second set. And concluded what she did and finished the match with a shot from net tape that landed immediately from Swiatek’s reach for set 6-3.

“I was running my life here. The first day I came here, I was like, ‘OK, let’s do a round again,'” Anishimoba said after the match. “It was such a dream. It’s really special to me to be back from Wimbledon.”

Anisimova scored only two four breaks at Swiatek. Another stat for Anisimova was 56% wins in her second serve, far more powerful after one serve than Swiatek, who scored just 37% of her second serve.
