  • Questions about Amorim’s Man Utd Future after a slow start
  • Emery could be a “incredible” Amorim alternative

The “incredible” manager has appeared as Manchester United’s top target to replace Reuben Amorim, who has gotten a poor start to his new campaign.

Questions about Amorim’s Man Utd Future after a slow start

Amorim appears safe in the short term as Man United won the final match before an international break, beating Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford, but there are doubts as to how long the 40-year-old will last at work.

Former Arsenal defender William Glass has even suggested that the Portuguese coach could leave by the end of the year. “He looks lost. I don’t think his body language and emotional response have made a good impression on his players or Manchester United fans.

“Looking at him and being honest, I don’t know if he’ll reach Christmas, because United feel like he’s performing poorly or is losing out of the crisis.”

The former sports CP boss has been struggling ever since his arrival at Old Trafford, and the shock loss at the hands of Grimsbytown of the EFL Cup certainly didn’t benefit the manager.

As a result, according to a Football Insider report, Man United is now beginning to identify potential alternatives to Amorim, and has selected Aston Villa manager Unai Emery as his top target.

Ineos is not actively looking to bring in a manager replacement right away, but now it has begun to assess the market, and Emery has emerged as an attractive option given the work he has done with Villa.

The 53-year-old replaced Stephen Gerrard at Villa Park in November 2022, taking over when the villain was just above the relegation zone, and he then led them to the Champions League and Europa League for back-to-back seasons.

Emery could be a “incredible” Amorim alternative

The Spaniard has undoubtedly done a great job at Aston Villa, but given the current employer’s PSR issues, there is a question of how much he can take, given his spending limits over the summer transfer period.

So, the move to Old Trafford has enjoyed a very successful career up to this point, potentially appealing to the Villa boss who has won 11 trophies in spells with Sevilla, Villarreal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Villa striker Louis Barry, now on loan at Sheffield United, praised the former PSG manager’s training session, saying: “Unai Emery is an incredible coach to improve his players. It was crazy for me how similar his training was to my time at Barcelona.”

If they plunder Amorim, Man United can bring in a proven Premier League manager with a history of winning the trophy, and Emery checks both boxes.
