  • Arne Slott’s job is safe at Liverpool
  • Reds leaders have faith in Dutch manager

Liverpool suffered a shocking 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, sending the club to their lowest position in recent memory, with their sixth defeat in seven Premier League games and languishing in 11th place.

The defending champions have endured a devastating dip in form and doubts are mounting as to whether Arne Slott will be able to weather the storm.

The defeat to Forest, which had been without a win in eight games, symbolized Liverpool’s recent collapse.

The Reds looked disorganized, flat and weak defensively, conceding easy goals and showing little of the intensity that characterized last season when they won the title under Slott.

Statistically, this is the worst defensive start in Premier League history, with 20 goals in their first 12 games and a negative goal difference, a stunning fall from grace for a team once hailed as one of Europe’s best.

Arne Slott’s job is safe at Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano says the Dutch manager’s job is not under immediate threat, but the club’s patience is not limitless.

Romano said on YouTube:

“What’s going on with Arne Slott? Guys, there’s no information at the moment that Liverpool’s owners are thinking of making an immediate decision regarding Arne Slott.

“So Liverpool are not thinking of changing managers right now. Of course they, the owners and the club want to see a different result and expect more from Arne Slott and his team.”

“Certainly Liverpool will expect something different from both the manager and the players, because it’s not just Arne Slott. As Virgil van Dijk said, the players have to take responsibility too. So it’s like players and managers.”

“Arne Slott is aware that the situation is dangerous and complex, but he also feels the support and trust of the club. Liverpool are not in talks with any other manager and are not even considering the possibility of him being sacked.”

“This is the current situation. Of course, the result has to change quickly, both in the Champions League and in the Premier League, but especially in the Premier League, because Liverpool are in a really complicated situation. This is how I feel today.”

Liverpool’s bosses remain confident in Slott’s long-term vision but are hoping to see significant improvements by the new year.

Owners believe he can turn things around, but their stance could change if they fail to close the gap to the top four.

Liverpool currently trail Aston Villa by three points in the race for Champions League qualification, and there is still time to recover.

But with morale low and senior players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate struggling to improve their form, Slott faces the biggest test of his managerial career.

If his results don’t improve soon, the Dutchman’s reign at Anfield, once seen as a promising new era, could crumble before the season is even halfway through.
