Scottie Scheffler makes history with Tiger Woods as PGA Tour Player of the Year

Scottie Scheffler won the Jack Nicklaus Award as the 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods in that solemn atmosphere, becoming only the second player to earn this honor four years in a row.

Scheffler, a four-time PGA Tour Player of the Year, ranks second behind Woods (11) for most, pushing the Texan past Rory McIlroy, who entered the season tied with three. Scheffler beat out McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Ben Griffin to earn this honor.

“On behalf of the PGA Tour, I would like to congratulate Scottie Scheffler on being named PGA Tour Player of the Year and Aldrich Potgieter on earning the 2025 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honor,” said CEO Brian Rolup. “Scotty’s consistent level of success as he continues to make history on the PGA Tour is truly remarkable, and we look forward to seeing what he brings in 2026.”

Scheffler won six times on the PGA Tour for the second year in a row despite missing the start of the year until February’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am due to an offseason hand injury. This made him the second player (Woods) since 1983 to record six or more wins in multiple seasons.

The world No. 1 had a slow start to the season, winning his first title at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a 31-under 253 performance that matched the lowest 72-hole score on the PGA Tour. Two weeks later, he won the PGA Championship, beating Griffin by four strokes and becoming the first player since Woods to successfully defend his title at the Memorial.

Scheffler’s dominant performance at Royal Portrush at the British Open Championship secured him the third leg of a career Grand Slam. When the FedEx Cup Playoffs arrived, he added another BMW Championship trophy thanks to a dramatic chip-in birdie on the 71st hole that put the tournament on ice.

Scheffler’s sixth and final victory of the season came at the Pro Core Championship, the FedEx Cup fall season opener, once again defeating Griffin.

With six wins, Scheffler’s total wins on the PGA Tour increased to 19. He finished first in overall points average and first, second, third and fourth games, making him the first player to achieve such a feat since Woods in 2000. Scheffler finished inside the top 25 in all 20 starts, with 17 of those doubles as a top-10 finish.
