Daniel Cormier Identifies 19-0 Phenom as the Only UFC Fighter Treated Worse Than Arman Tsarukyan

Daniel Cormier expressed shock over the featherweight contender Movsar Evloev being overlooked at UFC 325. Matchmaking decisions in the UFC have often sparked debate, but 2026 kicked off with some of the most contentious choices in recent memory. One of the biggest controversies was Arman Tsarukyan’s disqualification at UFC 324, followed by Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje being chosen to fight for the vacant lightweight title after Ilya Topuria’s absence.

Cormier believes Evloev’s situation might be even more troubling, suggesting the Russian fighter is facing a tougher challenge in gaining title shot opportunities than Tsarukyan. Despite maintaining a flawless 9-0 record with victories over notable fighters like Diego Lopez, Arnold Allen, and Aljamain Sterling, Evloev has yet to be given a chance to compete for the championship. Lopez, who lost to reigning two-time featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski just 10 months ago, was selected ahead of Evloev and Lerone Murphy to headline UFC 325 in Australia.

Cormier shared his frustration on his YouTube channel, stating, “There is one man who has done worse than the mad Arman Tsarukyan, and that is Movsar Evloev. He’s not getting any traction towards a championship fight.” Meanwhile, Alexander Volkanovski revealed that he would have preferred to fight Evloev, praising the unbeaten contender’s deserving status. In an interview on Demetrius Johnson’s channel, Volkanovski said, “If you ask me who I’m most excited about, it’s probably Movsar because he deserves it. He’s undefeated. I’m the last undefeated guy to lose, so I can’t take anyone’s zero yet.”

Fan Take:
This scenario highlights the ongoing challenges fighters face with UFC matchmaking politics, emphasizing how even flawless records don’t guarantee title opportunities. For fight fans, Evloev’s continued snub raises important questions about fairness and transparency in the sport, potentially fueling demand for greater accountability in how contenders are chosen.
