England’s Justin Rose extended his lead to four strokes with a 7-under 65 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and the returning Brooks Koepka qualified for San Diego.

The 45-year-old, led by Ireland’s Seamus Power, broke his own 36-hole record at the tournament and finished at 17 under par.

Rose shot an eagle, six birdies and just one bogey in the day’s round Friday on the more challenging South Course.

“I feel like I’ve generally won on tough golf courses in my career, so I guess you could say that’s my MO,” said Rose, the 2025 Masters runner-up who took the lead in shots after an opening-round 62.

“This is the kind of place I enjoy. The whole area, the whole atmosphere, the whole vibe, it’s one of my favorite tournaments on tour.”

Meanwhile, Koepka continued his return to the PGA Tour with a second-round 68 to move to 3 under.

Koepka, a five-time major champion, agreed to terminate his contract with LIV Golf at the end of 2025, but struggled Thursday on the South Course, posting a round of 73.

However, at the North Course, his first PGA Tour tournament in four years, he regained his form and sank an eagle putt on the 17th hole.

“I think (Thursday) I was excited to play and nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but I think today felt more normal,” Koepka said.

“But yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely still nervous, but I think I’m probably a little nervous. I’m just trying to figure it out and test it out. Let’s see where my game is as well. I feel like I’m playing really well. It’s just been a long rest period.”

Xander Schauffele’s longest cut streak on tour ended at age 72, and Patrick Cantlay, Gary Woodland, Will Zalatoris, J.J. Spaun, Max Homa and Ludwig Aberg all also missed the cut.
