Alex Marquez: Silverstone is “a little better” in my style, but Mark “knows how to get faster.”

Alex Marquez may have surpassed his brother’s mark as Gresini’s teammate at Motogpu in England last year.

Alex agrees last year that the silverstone flowing corners suit his riding style, but Mark turned the tables in both last year’s races.

#93 came in fourth, with Alex in seventh when he fell crashing from the sprint. These positions – fourth in the mark and seventh in Alex – were repeated with the checkered flag of the Grand Prix.

The Marquez brothers will return to England for the first place and second place in this year’s World Championships. Mark, the new factory Ducati rider, scored 22 points on Geres winner Alex after a non-score at Le Mans.

Mark hasn’t won Silverstone since 2014, but that appeared in a perfect double victory ahead of Qatar’s round four.

“Last year, he was able to be in front of me on a GP23 bike, so he’s better than me (on Silverstone),” Alex said.

“It’s usually a track I enjoy it so much, and it’s really fast and flowing. But when it comes to performance, I’m not even better than him (on Silverstone).

“Maybe it’s a bit better track for my riding style, but it’s Mark Marquez and he’s not a rider who doesn’t know how to get faster on some tracks.”

Alex suffered from the first DNF of the season after crashing twice in the Le Mans race, but Gresini Rider had no regrets about his decision to swap the bike.

Like Mark, #73 started with a slick, offering double long laps for pre-race bike swaps, and was forced to switch to wet as the rain got worse.

“It was six laps and there was no rain. I think we could have had two more dry laps and be in front of Johann (starting with Zarco, race winner, Wets),” Alex said.

“That situation is always a lottery. We played the lottery in a good way, but later the crash made the weekend look like a disaster, but that’s not the case.

“In the right moment, we did everything (strategically) really accurate.”

The forecast suggests that MotoGP could face another weekend mixed weather at Silverstone.
