New York Islanders captain Bo Horvat made a notable debut at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. During Canada’s initial game against the Czech Republic, he scored a crucial goal that put Canada ahead 3-0. The play started with Dallas Stars defenseman Thomas Hurley making a quick pass to Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand. Marchand then fed the puck to Horvat, who maneuvered through the Czech defense and scored past Anaheim Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal into the net’s five-hole.

Earlier in the game, Horvat also accidentally hit a high stick right before the first period ended, which required some repair work. Among the Islanders, Horvat is one of just two players representing Canada at the Olympics, and he is scheduled to face Czech forward Ondrej Palat later in the tournament.

Fan Take: Horvat’s impressive Olympic debut highlights his skill on the international stage, giving Isles fans exciting hope for his contributions both at the Olympics and back home. This performance could boost his confidence and influence his leadership role for the Islanders moving forward, fueling anticipation for the upcoming season.
