Tottenham have received a huge boost at a tumultuous time for the club, with Swedish star Lukas Bergvall expected to return much sooner than previously feared.

According to the latest report from Fotboll Direkt, the 20-year-old midfielder’s rehabilitation is progressing ahead of schedule, providing a rare glimmer of hope for newly appointed interim manager Igor Tudor.

Lukas Bergvall injury update

The midfielder was wanted by Chelsea in January but was forced to leave in the second half following a heavy attack and was later diagnosed with a serious ankle injury.

Initial reviews from medical staff were harsh, with early projections suggesting layoffs of two to three months.

Such a timeline would have effectively ended his regular-season contribution and ruled him out of important international games.

However, the report says the athlete has recently been released from the protective plastic boots used to stabilize his foot, indicating significant progress in his recovery.

When is Lukas Bergvall scheduled to return?

Revised projections indicate a return in about six weeks if healing continues without further setbacks.

This accelerated schedule is especially important for the Swedish national team. There is currently a “sliver of hope” that Bergvall will be available for the World Cup playoffs against Ukraine on March 26th.

For the Spurs, his return won’t happen anytime soon. The club has been hit by an unprecedented injury crisis, with 11 senior players currently sidelined, including James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

With Tottenham currently struggling to climb up the table and Igor Tudor tasked with steadying the ship, having a player of Bergvall’s technical qualities back in the final stages of the season could make a difference.

If the new six-week forecast holds true, the “unstoppable” Swede could be back in the lead again by early April.
