Two years ago, Scottie Scheffler became the 18th golfer to win multiple green jackets, and several players are aiming to finish 19th at the 2026 Masters. Among them are reigning champion Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth. Some players will make their debut at Augusta National when the 2026 Masters starts on Thursday, April 9th. Chris Gotterup and Ben Griffin join a trio of golfers aiming to win a major in their first appearance.
The world’s top-ranked Scheffler is the +480 favorite in the latest odds for the 2026 Masters. McIlroy is +1000 for back-to-back wins, and Ludwig Aberg is +1100 for his first major win. 2026 Masters predictions for Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm
One of the shocks of this model at the 2026 Masters was that Rahm (+1300), the 2023 Masters champion and one of this year’s favorites, stumbled and didn’t even crack the top five on the leaderboard. The 2023 win was the Spaniard’s only top 10 in his last four starts at Augusta, followed by 45th (2024) and 14th (2025). Rahm hasn’t been at his best in the majors overall, finishing in the top five just once in his last 10 starts in the majors and finishing 34th or worse four times. Add to that Rahm, who has won just one 72-hole tournament in the three years since donning the green jacket, and is a player to avoid given the short PGA odds.
The model also has a solid prediction for Scheffler (+480), a two-time Masters winner and this year’s favorite to win. Scheffler won each of his last four starts at Augusta in 2022 and 2024 with top-10 finishes. He also won the PGA Championship and British Open Championship last season, earning him the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for the fourth time in his career. But Schaeffler has so far fallen short of his 2025 success and appears to be heading in the wrong direction. He won his first start of 2026 and finished in the top five in his next two, but fell outside the top 10 in his subsequent starts and outside the top 20 in his last two starts. He then withdrew from the Houston Open, depriving him of the possibility of a final tune-up before the 2026 Masters.
The model also examined the possibility that McIlroy would become the fourth golfer to win consecutive green jackets. Last year’s victory was not only the crowning achievement of McIlroy’s career, but also his first major victory in 11 years. His long game metrics have been strong this year, with top-five rankings in total strokes gained, SG: tee-to-green, and SG: off-the-tee, but he’s lagging on the greens, ranking outside the top 100 in SG: putting. The Irishman has had limited participation in PGA events this year, finishing just three tournaments with mixed success. He was runner-up at Genesis, 14th at Pebble Beach, and 46th at The Players after winning the 2025 tournament. See the full Masters predictions from the model here.
