Decision: Liverpool waiting for smart free transfer

Liverpool are reported to be one of the clubs keeping an eye on Bournemouth central defender Marcos Senesi after he informed the club of his intention to leave the club this summer.

The Argentine’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season, and several names have been mentioned as potential candidates to sign him on a free transfer.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of them, but Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are also said to be interested, with Barça in particular appearing to be more interested.

As we recently reported, Chelsea are also keen on Senesi, so he could end up staying in the Premier League.

But for now, TEAMtalk reports that he has already confirmed his decision to leave for the Cherries.

Transferring Marcos Senesi would be smart business for Liverpool

Liverpool appear to need to strengthen their defense this summer, and it would make sense to consider a quality free agent like Senesi.

The 28-year-old has proven himself at Premier League level with Bournemouth and could do a decent job of replacing Ibrahima Konate should he leave at the end of his contract.

Meanwhile, LFC also need to think about Virgil van Dijk’s playing time next season. That’s because the veteran Dutchman probably can’t play 90 minutes twice a week for that long.

With that in mind, we gave Senesi a high score over Liverpool in our Transfer Fit rating system…

As a free agent, Senesi is a high-scoring transfer, and the need for another defender in Arne Slott’s squad is strong, making him a strong fit overall.

Granted, he’s lost points as he’s in the latter stages of his career, but his recent form and impact across the Premier League has been good and he’s definitely a safe bet for Liverpool.
