Newcastle United have made a major move to sign Yann Diomande in preparation for a summer reshuffle that could see star winger Anthony Gordon leave St James’ Park.
The news comes from a prominent source at X, who reports that the Magpies have made a move to sign the 19-year-old Ivorian forward.
Diomande, who dominated the Bundesliga this season with RB Leipzig, is widely considered to be one of Europe’s most ‘explosive’ youngsters, having already scored 11 goals and provided five assists in domestic competition.

Newcastle ready to offer lucrative contract for Yann Diomande
Sources say Newcastle are determined to outdo their Premier League rivals on personal terms and win the race for Diomand.
The Tyneside club are reportedly willing to offer a “more favorable contract” to lure the winger to the North East, despite strong interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
A source told X: “One of Newcastle United’s reliable sources says the club are considering selling Anthony Gordon. The source says Newcastle United have made a move for Yann Diomande. They intend to offer him a better deal compared to their Premier League rivals.”
Leipzig are thought to be willing to pay a transfer fee of around 100 million euros (approximately 8.7 billion yen) for their valuable asset.
Newcastle will have to remain mindful of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, but the potential sale of their high-value raw star player could provide the necessary breathing room for such a strong investment.
What does this mean for Anthony Gordon?
The news of Diomand’s transfer directly coincides with new rumors regarding Anthony Gordon’s future.
After a season in which the England international scored 16 goals in all competitions, his stock has never been higher.
However, with Newcastle currently sitting 14th in the table and facing a ‘summer exodus’ to make ends meet, Gordon has been touted as a prime candidate for a big sale.

Yann Diomande vs Anthony Gordon 25/26 Stats vs Transfermarkt
There is a lot of interest in Gordon from within and outside the Premier League.
Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in signing the winger as part of their post-Salah rebuild, with a valuation of around £80m being mooted.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in Gordon, with Bayern Munich similarly said to have a “genuine interest” in the Englishman.
If Newcastle can successfully flip Gordon to their advantage and replace him with the younger, higher-ceilinged Diomand, it would be a bold tactical shift as manager Eddie Howe looks to reignite the club’s top-four ambitions for 2027.
