  • Nottingham Forest fans mock Chelsea with ‘Tottenham in disguise’ chants
  • Forest lead by 6 points over West Ham

The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge turned sour on Monday night as Nottingham Forest fans took full advantage of Chelsea’s collapse.

Forest scored twice in the first half thanks to efforts from Taiwo Awoniyi and Igor Jesus, giving them a comfortable lead going into half-time.

Chelsea had a chance to fall behind when Jesse Derry made a personal sacrifice to earn a penalty towards the end of the first half, but Cole Palmer was unable to convert it.

In the second half, Awonih scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-0, sending the visiting fans into a frenzy.

Nottingham Forest fans mock Chelsea with ‘Tottenham in disguise’ chants

As Forest built a commanding 3-0 lead, traveling supporters could be heard taunting the home crowd after a humiliating night for the Blues, asking, “Are Tottenham in disguise?”

The chant was picked up by BBC sports journalist Joe Lindle during his commentary and quickly went viral, highlighting the scale of Chelsea’s struggles.

The chant added extra provocation considering the long-standing rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham.

For a club that prides itself on competing at the highest level, especially in such circumstances, comparisons with their north London rivals have only added to the frustration within Stamford Bridge.

Forest lead by 6 points over West Ham

More than just a joke, this result has huge implications for the Premier League standings.

Nottingham Forest won 3-1 to move six points clear of West Ham United in the relegation battle with three games left in the season.

BBC Live reported that forest supporters could also be heard shouting “We are awake”.

Mathematically, they still need four points to ensure they remain, but their current form and superior goal difference suggest they can successfully avoid relegation.

For Chelsea, the defeat was the lowest point in a season marked by instability and late-season fatigue.
