Pacers Home Games Without Tyrese Haliburton’s Dad: No Games 4 Lifted

Tyrese Halliburton’s father, John Halliburton, has been permitted to attend the Indiana Pacers’ home game during this postseason. John will be present at Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks at Gainbridge Field House on Tuesday. This information was shared anonymously to the Associated Press before the decision was made public.

John Halliburton faced an indefinite ban by the Pacers following a confrontation with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. After the Pacers clinched Game 5 and eliminated the Bucks in the first playoff round, John rushed onto the court holding a towel depicting his son, provoking a conflict with Antetokounmpo.

Tyrese publicly criticized his father’s behavior after the game on April 29th, while Antetokounmpo called John’s actions “very, very rude.” John also issued an apology on social media for his conduct.

The Pacers initially announced the ban through ESPN, explaining that after discussions with John and the team’s management, John would refrain from attending home and away games, a decision he accepted following a court encounter with Antetokounmpo.

However, the Pacers’ surprising advance to the Eastern Conference Finals has led to John being allowed back at home games. Tyrese himself supported his father’s return, telling TNT Sports after Game 2, “I’ll release my pop until it’s backwards.”

Despite his suspension, John has been an ardent supporter, watching Game 1 of the Conference Finals and showing excitement as Tyrese made a critical late-game shot at Madison Square Garden. John wore Pacers gear, pointed at the big screen, made a Reggie Miller chalk gesture, and cheered enthusiastically.

In another post-game clip, John held a towel with his son’s image and recited lyrics from Rob49’s “Wthelly.” For Game 4, he will be in the suite but remains banned from road games. The Pacers aim to take a 3-1 lead in the series on Tuesday.

Tyrese has been the key contributor to the Pacers’ playoff success, averaging 18.5 points, 9.4 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and steals per game.

(The Associated Press contributed to this report.)

Fan Take: This development is significant because letting John Halliburton back to home games reflects the team’s confidence in maintaining decorum while supporting their star player’s family. It also highlights the intense passion and drama surrounding playoffs, reminding fans how deeply personal and emotional the sport can get behind the scenes.
