And just like that, the final marquee event of the PGA Tour season arrives. Fresh off their third major championship of the year, the players will dust themselves off and take a short trip to Cromwell, Conn., for one of their favorite tournaments, the 2026 Travelers Championship.
With a signature event featuring 15 unique winners in a row since the start of the 2025 season, the Travelers Championship has a way of living up to its past winners. Defending champion Keegan Bradley has two wins in this tournament. Scottie Scheffler hopes to accomplish that this weekend.
The four-time major champion has yet to win since the American Express, but it hasn’t been for lack of trying. Scheffler attempted a career grand slam at Sinek Hills, but was ultimately unable to put pressure on eventual champion Windham Clark.
The two-time U.S. Open champion will take to the field after what can only be described as a stressful week and a joyous celebration. On Sunday, Clark lifted his second US Open trophy under intense pressure from Sam Burns. Burns hopes to avoid a close call with other U.S. Open players such as Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy will be absent from the celebrations as he has chosen to skip another signature event. In his place, McIlroy’s Ryder Cup teammates Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludwig Oberg and Viktor Hovland will be hoping to pick up the pieces for one of the longest running events on the schedule.

- Scotty Scheffler (9/2): The world’s No. 1 player has only won one match so far in 2026. He gave an overview of nature that is familiar but not that far. The former TPC River Highlands champion will be happy to be back, knowing his iron play is starting to trend in the right direction again.
- Ludwig Oberg (17-1): He finished a quiet 17th place at the US Open and had good results at major tournaments. Oberg continues to showcase his skill set, but the season is coming to a close and his strong play has yet to translate into wins. The Swede, who finished 23rd in his tournament debut a few seasons ago, hasn’t finished in the top 25 in recent seasons.

- Cameron Young (20-1): Young shot a 59 at TPC River Highlands a few seasons ago, good enough to join the PGA Tour’s sub-60 club but not good enough for a course record. The Players Championship winner has cooled down in recent weeks as nagging issues with his short game have started to creep in. He’s been able to turn them around a bit this season — just look at his Cadillac Championship win — but the world No. 3 has been off a little bit over the past month.

- Sam Burns (23-1): He showed this season that he is a player to be reckoned with on golf’s most demanding courses. His runner-up finish at the US Open marked his second consecutive appearance in this tournament. This comes after close calls at both the 2026 Masters and Memorial Tournament. Burns, known for his putting, now seems to have complete control over the golf ball, even on full swings. of Heartbreak was real in Shinnecock Hills.But let’s see if he can make up for it on a golf course that hasn’t finished in the top 10 in his career.
