Newcastle has ambitions to significantly improve its team this summer. There is room for this because PSR is not expected to be a problem. But nonetheless, they can be set up to miss yet another major target.

Early in the summer, Newcastle had Brian Mbemo and Mark Guech at the top of his shopping list, but will miss both. Mbeumo is expected to join either Man United or Tottenham, but Liverpool is a favorite to sign Guehi.

After discarding the Mbeumo, Newcastle moved Joao Pedro to the target list. And despite his early optimism, things don’t look good on him either.

Newcastle believes they are not liked to sign Brighton despite having recently approached Pedro. According to The Telegraph, the winner of the Carabao Cup is afraid to miss him to Chelsea.

Newcastle believes Pedro, who scored 10 goals and seven assists during the 2024-25 season, is on the verge of moving to Chelsea as he believes the 23-year-old prefers to live in London. And it’s expected that he will make the move rather than head to St. James Park if the UEFA Conference League champions will raise interest in the coming weeks.

It was a very frustrating start to summer for Newcastle. There was hope that important business would be done for a strong PSR position, but so far it was the same as the last three transfer windows.

It remains to be seen how Newcastle will approach the market over the summer. They are still in Anthony Elanga, but the pursuits in recent weeks have been unsuccessful and have managed to get away from watching Premier League players.
