Chelsea is one aspect that can benefit from the early transfer window before the Club World Cup.
The Blues are competing in the United States’ new look 32 team competition at the end of the season, allowing them to aim to strengthen their teams before competition in the first transfer window at the beginning of June.
It is Liam Dellup that Chelsea links with the signature. The Ipswichtown striker will certainly leave the club this summer, considering he has a £30 million release clause.
However, recent reports from Football Insider suggest that Manchester United is a “pole position” signing the British.
Bruce clearly wants to sign a new striker this season. If you missed Dellup, there is an alternative name in the list.
Chelsea Delap Alternative
So, if West London outfits miss Dellup this summer, one of their alternative options is Brighton and Hove Albion attacker Joa Opedro.
Transfer focus
Mega Money deals, controversial moves, famous flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinions across Football FanCust.
After an impressive season from the Brazilians, he is linked to travelling from the South Coast.
According to a report from Football Insider, Seagulls attackers are players “they saw” this summer, potentially transferring cards.
Mick Brown’s former chief scout of Man United says he heard Pedro “he told people around him about the movement, and that he’s probably interested in Chelsea this summer.”
But this is not a cheap deal. Football insiders suggest he is worth £70 million, but a report from TeamTalk last week said that the Gulls wanted £100 million from their talisman attackers.
How Joao Pedro compares to Liam Delap
It was a powerful campaign for both Brighton and Pedro. He continued his excellent form on the South Coast after a strong debut year.
He played in 27 Premier Leagues this season, with the Brazilian managing 10 goals and six assists. After playing 1,953 minutes with the Seagull, he averaged goal involvement every 122 minutes. As analyst and author Dougie Critchley said, he is a “special” player.
Another thing that really stands out about the 23-year-old is his ability to acquire important goals against some of the league’s biggest teams. In this term, he found the second time behind the net against Arsenal, Man United and Manchester City.
If Bruce actually signed Pedro to Dellup as an alternative to Dellup, he would certainly bring more to the table in terms of his all-around contribution than the 22-year-old.
It was an impressive season for Stoke cult hero Rory’s son, given that he scored 12 goals in his debut Premier League tenure.
But Brighton’s attackers were certainly true creative forces, and in many ways more so than Dellup. Pedro has registered six assists compared to the former Man City Player two, suggesting he is involved in overall play.
In fact, statistics via FBREF suggest that the Brazilian brings more to his general play table than the British. For example, compared to each game in each game of Ipswichstar, he averages 1.39 key passes and 3.61 progressive passes per 90 minutes and 3.61 progressive passes per 90 minutes.

There is no doubt that the deal signing Delap is better in terms of cost, with a difference of £700 million. But the £100 million they have to invest in Pedro might be worth it given that he is better than the British in his overall play.
At 23, he has plenty of time to develop in front of goals and become even more clinical. Plus, he already knows how to create opportunities and play his teammates.
