British Jack Draper made it to the Italian Open quarterfinals after beating France’s Corentin Mutetto in the 16th round on Tuesday.

Fighting back from the poor display on the opening set, Draper booked the final eighth place with a resilient performance to beat the Moutet 6-1, 6-4 and 6-3.

In this victory, Draperbook will see his first spot in the quarterfinals at the Italian Open, facing Carlos Alcaraz.

The 23-year-old struggled with consistency on the first set, but was reorganized to play the other person.

“I’m proud of my efforts today. I was covered in bamboo at the start,” Draper told Sky Sports after the match. “I have never played anyone like that.

“I’m sure I’ve come out little by little today, but I’m in the quarterfinals now and I don’t have time to tire of it.”

In the second set, we watched a small drama in a video review after Moutet called out for technology and claimed that Draper pushed the ball into the ground. Britt was awarded points after it was shown he had legally hit the ball.
