WNBA star Kate Martin made an exciting move to Athlon Sports on Thursday. After a strong start to the 2025 WNBA season with a 2-1 record, Martin and the Golden State Valkyries hit a rough patch, losing three consecutive games and dropping to 2-4 overall.

Martin began her rookie year in 2024 with the Las Vegas Aces, playing a crucial role early on due to several team injuries. She then joined the Valkyries in her first season after being picked in the expanded draft. Although Martin had a slow start with Golden State, scoring just eight points in her first three games, she showed notable improvement in the next two games, averaging 12 points and hitting a career-high of 14 in a recent loss against the Minnesota Lynx.

The 2024 second overall pick remains a fan favorite throughout the league and has now earned the chance to engage with WNBA legends. On Thursday, it was announced that Martin would be the next guest on the podcast Bird’s Eye View, hosted by former Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird. The podcast, which launched in May, has featured several WNBA stars including New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu and Las Vegas Aces’ Jewel Lloyd.

The Bird’s Eye View Instagram account shared the news, highlighting Martin’s popularity with the Valkyries and noting that the episode airs on Friday as the fourth installment of the series. Sue Bird, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in WNBA history, spent 21 seasons with the Storm, winning four championships and making eight all-WNBA teams, though she never secured an MVP award.
