Novak Djokovic – You could have played your last match at the French Open

Novak Djokovic suggested he may have played in the French Open for the last time after losing top-ranked Janik Sinner in the semi-finals at Roland Garros on Friday, losing 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 (3) to top-ranked Janik Sinner.

The 38-year-old received a huge applause from the crowd stuffed inside the Philippe Chatrier, dropping his bags into court and acknowledging each section of the stadium.

“I mean, this might have been the last game I’ve played here, so I don’t know. So even in the end I was a little more emotional,” Djokovic said.

“But if this was a Roland Garros farewell match for me in my career, it was great in terms of vibes and what I got from the crowd.”

Djokovic shares his grand slam singles record with 24 major titles, and one more is needed to break his bond with Margaret Court.

“Want to play more, yes, but I don’t know if we’ll be able to play here in 12 months,” Djokovic said. “I said it might have been my last match (here), I didn’t say it was.”

Djokovic said he is completely motivated to play Wimbledon and the US Open, but will not commit to any further plans.

“Obviously Wimbledon is next. This is my favorite tournament from my childhood. I’m going to do everything I can to prepare myself,” he said. “My best chance could be Wimbledon to win another slam or a faster hard court, perhaps Australia.”
