  • Martin Zubimendi has received special acclaim
  • Arsenal needed a new signature in the middle

Fabrizio Romano has once again confirmed that Arsenal’s move to sign Martin Zubimendi is “going here” and that he’s just over 60 million euros.

The gunners are ready to slightly exceed the 60 million euro fee with Zubimendi’s release clause, Real Sociedad, and can pay Spanish International’s installments.

Zubimendi was also linked to Real Madrid, but the hijacking did not appear to have been delayed, and the 26-year-old is set to head to Emirates Stadium.

Romano’s latest X-post on Zubimendi explains how Arsenal is paying for this deal.

Romano said: “Arsenal will pay a release clause of more than 60 million euros as part of the Real Sociedad agreement for Martin Zubimendi’s deal. The fees will be a little higher, but we will allow installments to be paid as the club shares a great relationship.”

Martin Zubimendi has received special acclaim

Spanish football expert Gillem Barag discussed how Zubimendi could have with Arsenal.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Balague revealed how highly he appreciates this “very smart” midfield player who can do a variety of jobs in the middle of the park.

“His passes may sound simple, but he generally chooses one pass well,” Barag said.

“He rarely loses the ball, which helps fluidity and team confidence. He reads the game very well and isn’t the fastest midfielder.

“He’s been driving with a ball recently and even getting into a box. If his teammates feel they can cover for him, he’ll do that.

“But his main job is to help build up at the centre-back level. He does the same thing when it’s a matter of making the game flow, finding guys with space, moving their team forward and putting pressure on them.

“He’s very smart when it comes to deciding when to go and when not to go. He’s a team player, a quiet leader. He’s an important cog in the car.”

Arsenal needed a new signature in the middle

Zubimendi joins Arsenal and says goodbye to Jorginho, but Thomas Partey also closes his contract this summer.

And according to another Romano post, discussions about the new contract with Ghana International seem to have not progressed…

Partey and Jorginho are key players in Arsenal, and fans must hope that Zubimendi will settle down quickly and be able to replace them.

Mikel Arteta also has decent depth in that position along with the likes of Declan Rice and Mikel Merino, but Miles Lewis Skelly can also play there if necessary.
