Viktor Hovland shares a sad injury update after appearing on Athlon Sports after withdrawing from the Travellers Championship.

The rise of PGA Tour star Viktor Hovland, two holes to the final round of the Travelers Championship, was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury.

The Norwegian shot 63 on Saturday and was tied up towards the 14th in Sunday’s round at TPC River Highlands.

Hovland detailed his injuries after Withdrawal and recalled how he felt a minor sparkle while warming up to range. “I felt a bit in my neck after hitting one shot, but it…it didn’t feel good,” he told reporters on Sunday.

However, when he went on his next driver swing just minutes before tee time, he heard and felt his neck was “cracked.” “I don’t know exactly what happened, but I couldn’t move,” Hovland added.

Despite a quick attempt at treatment, “someone saw it… 5 minutes before I got on the tee” – there wasn’t enough time to properly deal with the problem.

He managed to complete the two holes, repeating the first hole and bogeying the second, explaining, “I tried to play, but it wasn’t viable… I could barely stand on the ball and move my neck. I really couldn’t do anything.”

Hovland’s withdrawal was the latest in a series of unfortunate exits with travelers, including Jordan Spieth (shoulder), Si Woo Kim (Buck) and Eric Cole (Illness).
