Jota’s unexpected death left the world of football with a deep shock, uniting sad players, clubs and fans to celebrate the memories of players who have been as cherished by their rivals as their Liverpool fans.

van dijk was posted on Instagram:

“Man, I can’t believe it, I don’t want to believe it. It’s absolutely devastated and completely unbelievable.

“What a human, what a player, but most importantly, an incredible family man.

“You mean so much to all of us, and you will always be! Your family will lose two sons, your husband and father can’t imagine. It’s so cruel and unfair. My heart is broken for all of your beautiful family and for your children.

“Champion forever, 20th forever. It was a privilege to stand by your side on the pitch and have your friend left it.

“We miss you beyond words and will never forget you. Your legacy will live on. We confirm it!

“Resting with the perfect peace Diogo and Andre.”

Their partnership has contributed greatly to the success of the Liverpool era. During this period, the Reds lifted the FA Cup and two League Cups. Jota often plays a critical role in the club’s domestic cups, with Vandic pinning the backline with consistency and mild authority.

Their time also saw Liverpool secure a record 20th English league title.

Beyond their achievements, Van Dijk and Jota developed a true friendship built on mutual respect, and a common desire to compete at the highest level of Liverpool, causing Jota to even more pain for Van Dijk.
