It’s no secret that Newcastle is in the market for a new right winger. Eddie Howe has a big say in who is signing, and he sets his sights on Johann Bakayoko.

Bakayoko has been attracting interest from many European clubs in recent years, and Newcastle is one of them. They identified him as a major target in January, but were ultimately not pursued due to PSR concerns. But these are now finished for the winner of the Carabao Cup.

And Bakayoko has had quite a chance to join Newcastle this summer, with Pete O’Rourke informing football insiders that Howe is a huge fan of the male PSV Eindhoven.

“Bakayoko will probably be interested in the move if that’s the right offer. He wants to play at the highest level. Newcastle can offer him in Champions League football. His contract could potentially be much cheaper in the final year than some of the other players, so he can sign a very wise Eddie.”

Due to the overwhelming 2024-25 season, Bakayoko’s stock is currently low, and his PSV contract is also expected to expire in 2026. As a result, he is thought to be able to win at the price of music for Newcastle’s ears.

However, given Newcastle will close the deal for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, it appears unlikely that the move will take place this summer.
