While not hidden by the fact that Manchester United fell by the road last season, Reuben Amorim intends to bring Old Trafford back to the forefront.

The Giants in the Premier League were grounded and finished in 15th place. Also, Amorim, who has lost the Europa League final for Tottenham Hotspur, knows he’s cutting out his job, but there’s hope that he can change corners in the coming months as Matthews Kuña signs and continues the conversation for Brentford’s relocation of Brian Mbeumo.

However, it’s not just the frontline that needs repackaging. In fact, the Red Devils also hope to make some changes in the central engine room.

Manchester United need a midfielder. Hopefully, you need someone to help dynam and expand the scope of Amorim’s tactical vision of ballplay.

Juventus’ Douglas Lewis was placed on the radar, but after a disappointing season in Italy, he’s the best choice after only three start to lead Serie A’s start?

Instead, United appears to have shown great interest in Valencia star Jabi Guerra, with reports from Italy claiming that the 22-year-old is actually approaching United this summer.

The cost can be agreed to be around 30 million euros (£26 million). This is a fascinating person, but Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid have also led to their interests being registered.

United need to move quickly to get this done.

What Javi Guerra brings to Man Utd

Christian Eriksen’s departure at the end of the contract took some experience from United’s ranks, but the struggles last season revealed that youthful vibrancy is a good thing for Amorim’s project’s progress.

Guerra will certainly offer it. His technical quality and trademark Spanish Football IQ gave talent scout Jacek Kulig liken him to Xabi Alonso, one of the best playmakers of his generation.

More modernly, he is cut from the same fabric as Martin Zubimendi, who just signed Arsenal in a deal worth £51 million. In this way, United were able to land their own version of the well-known Spanish International, filling the gap into England’s main pack.

Zubimendi is clearly a crisp and refined player, with former Spanish manager Luis de La Fuente calling him one of the “best central midfielders in the world.”

A little progressive and mobile, Guerra can add a robust number 8 profile that the Red Devils in the middle of the park is very coveted. Guerra has actually been ranked in the top 17% of the top 5 league midfielders in Europe over the past year, with the top 18% of ball recovery rates per 90 ranked in the top 18% over the year, according to FBREF.

A successful take-on is recorded when the player defeats the opponent while bringing the ball directly into the possession.

Welcome to “serious talent” by Statman Dave, Guerra may be young, but he has already proven himself capable against their best. It is one of more than six U21 midfielders who won over 50 tackles and take-ons in Europe’s top five leagues last year.

This is a profile United does not currently have. Especially now that Eriksen has left, not now. This tells us a new wave of quality, leading up to this amazing football club and is about to get back up after a very rough patch.
