Nico Hulkenberg earned widespread admiration from his competitors after securing his first-ever podium finish at the British Grand Prix, a remarkable achievement praised by many in the Formula 1 community. After numerous attempts, Hulkenberg finally stood on the podium with an impressive third-place finish in the challenging and rain-soaked Silverstone race.

The 37-year-old German’s breakthrough moment garnered compliments from fellow drivers, including championship leader Oscar Piastri. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who finished behind Hulkenberg, acknowledged the strong performance that ended his own home podium streak. Hamilton commented, “Third place was within reach, but Nico earned his first podium by driving a tough race.”

Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, expressed his admiration: “Seeing Nico finally on the podium after so many close calls is truly special.” Meanwhile, two-time champion Fernando Alonso highlighted Hulkenberg’s talent, saying, “This is his first podium, and I’m really happy for him. He’s one of the best drivers on the grid, and it’s great to see him getting the results he deserves.”

Williams driver Carlos Sainz spoke highly of Hulkenberg’s consistent top-tier performance, stating, “He’s always been a top-five driver in Formula 1, and his skill behind the wheel is exceptional.” Sauber’s Gabriel Boltreto also shared his pride, calling Hulkenberg the best teammate he’s had and congratulating him on this well-earned success.

After the race, Piastri teased Hulkenberg about receiving his first podium trophy made from Lego, to which Hulkenberg jokingly replied, “I love Lego! My daughter can play with it too. It’s a nice gesture, although a bit of silver or gold would have been better, but I’m not complaining.”
