Over the past few days, Arsenal has finally landed the signature of midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
Originally, it was proposed that Gunner agreed to the Spanish contract in January and joined the side during the current transfer period.
However, the deal quieted before it was finally announced that the 26-year-old had completed a £60 million move to the Emirates on a five-year contract.
The holding midfielder certainly fills a massive gap within the current team, but ultimately boss Mikel Arteta craves the added strengthening to bolster his Premier League title qualification.
Many players have been mentioned since the window opened, but it appears that they are approaching the completion of multiple deals prior to the 2025/26 campaign.
This latest window for new additions for Arsenal
Viktor Gyokeres is a player who is constantly being promoted for the move to join Arsenal this summer, but recently his contracts have appeared to be stagnating.
But now it appears that the two clubs are approaching the Swedish trade.
According to journalist Henry Winter, he may not be the only player to arrive in the near future.
He claims that the 21-year-old’s contract is likely to be signed off, and everything will be done by the end of the week, with a £15 million price tag listed for his signature.
Winter also said that the majority of the transfers have been completed and that slight details will need to be finalised before the youngster is announced as an Arsenal player.
Other reports suggest that players already have a “principle agreement” to sign the club this summer. Any move could cost the reported £17 million.
Why is Arsenal’s latest target best for Zubimendi?
Even after spending more than £100 million to sign Declan Rice in the summer of 2023, the hierarchy is targeting the new defensive midfielder on Arteta’s side.
The British is in the Emirates number eighth role, contributing to an impressive record in the attacking area where he registered the club’s 16 goals.
If the side jumps in the near future and becomes the title winner, then Zubimendi’s arrival would provide just that, and the anchor’s signature at the heart of the side was important.
He could further support him by pursuing success in North London with the addition of Mosquera, despite the Spanish being a defensive option.
His main priority is to stop the sides from acknowledging their goals, but he is also responsible for thriving in the area ahead of him, putting people ahead like Zubimendi.
His stats on 2024/25 at Lariga are evidence that he can own and thrive, potentially giving Arteta the perfect ballplay option behind him.
Labeled “Incredible” by Statman Dave, Mosquera registers a pass accuracy rate of 91% and has a progressive pass of 3.3 per 90 highlighting why it can provide the tools it needs for a midfielder.

But without the ball, the youngsters were impressed, earning 1.5 tackles per 90, creating a 3.5 clearance.
His subsequent tally of 75% of tackles last season ranked him in the top 15% of all players on Spain’s top flight, with gunners potentially becoming a bargain.
If he can replicate his incredible form in England next season, it would be an incredible pickup and could develop into top-level talent in the coming years.
The prospect of Mosquera joining his North London brethren is certainly exciting, and the pair could pass the club a major chance of success in 2025/26.
