Timothy Weah Shares Insight on Marseille in Exclusive Discussion

Fabrizio Romano reports that Olympique Marseille is in extensive discussions with Juventus regarding a potential transfer for Timothy Weah. The deal is expected to be a loan with mandatory buy options, with the financial details still being negotiated. Weah appears to be quite excited about the prospect of leaving Allianz Stadium for the Stade Vélodrome.

The 25-year-old winger, the son of Liberian football legend George Weah, joined Juventus from LOSC Lille in 2023 for a fee of approximately 11 million euros. His time in Turin hasn’t been particularly fruitful; he recorded several assists across 78 appearances in all competitions. In the 2024/25 season, he started 18 Serie A matches—less than half of the season’s total—and came off the bench 12 times.

Although his father represented Liberia, Weah was born in New York City and has netted seven goals for the US national team in 44 appearances.

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights the growing trend of American players making their mark in European leagues. Weah’s potential move could not only rejuvenate his career but also enhance the visibility of American talent in international soccer.
