        • Greater Talent than Gibbs White: Spurs to talk about signing a £40m star

It’s safe to say that Tottenham Hotspur fans have not been able to predict what the club has experienced over the past few weeks.

Dane was appointed as Lily White’s new boss in June and is based on the success of the Europa League, achieved by Ange Postecoglou at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

He is certainly trying to add to his team, completing a £55 million Mohamed Kudus from West Ham United last week, with the Ghanaian becoming the first major signature of his spell.

At the age of 24, it was almost certain that Morgan Gibbswhite, the star of North London’s London star, was joined, but it seemed like the contract had been hit.

Such scenarios are something you usually see when watching Hollywood movies, but they must be considered when dealing with forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Latest new additions on Spurs hunting this summer

Spurs decided last Thursday to trigger Gibbs-White’s £60 million release clause on his contract.

However, forests that threaten legal action over illegal approaches are far from the ideals they have been in, and can be seen as an exercise in which they earn additional money considering bargain clauses.

According to I Paper, the transaction is pending for the time being, but the same cannot be said about centreback Koni de Winter.

They claim that Lily White has taken an approach to landing the Belgian international, available for just £22 million in the ongoing window.

However, they face tough competition with intern Milan for the 23-year-old service, which says it could lead to a fight to land the stars in the coming weeks.

Why is the Spurs’ £22 million target a better signature than Gibbs White?

Gibbs White is not denying that he will be a great addition for Frank’s part ahead of 26/2025, given his tally of seven goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season.

He has the opportunity to promote his career and could also cement his position on a consistent base within England by Thomas Touchel.

But despite Marinakis’ work to stop such a move, there is also the question of where the 25-year-old will be featured in North London, given the addition of Kudus and James Madison’s current options.

There is no denying that his highest position is the 10 roles behind the striker and that if the manager decides to land him and play him from position, it could potentially be a waste of money.

Such a decision could be a better addition to De Winter this summer, especially given the lack of depth currently available in the centre-back division.

The Belgian offers a great option on Frank’s side, and given his soft age, it is possible that he has the tools to secure his position in the long run.

Labeled as “Ordered” by journalist Sacha Tabolieri, De Winter won 58% of the tackles he entered last year, earning 3.2 aerials per 90, giving Frank’s side a talented defensive option to help him strengthen his backline.

He also does 1.1 intercepts for every 90 and 4.8 recovery, helping the Italian side maintain double numbers on clean sheets. This is something we desperately need in North London, taking into account the small tally of 65 goals.

At just 23, he has already competed in over 100 seniors and is capable, but could also be a real asset for the club now and for the next few years.

Gibbswhite certainly excels in North London, but in the current window the need for additional reinforcements added to the back is equally important.

De Winter offers just that, and for just £22 million he’ll be a massive bargain.
