Newcastle United reportedly is interested in signing AC Milan defender Malick Chiau.
According to a report by Gazzetta Dello Sport, they submitted a substantial offer of 30 million euros to the German defender. However, the Italians do not want to sanction his departure.
Will Newcastle be able to return to Malick Chiau’s offer?
Max Allegri hopes that Milan will hug the players for his upcoming campaign, and AC Milan declined the offer. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle has returned with an improved offer to sign players.
It’s no secret that you need a quality central defender along with Sven Botman. The German defender would have been an ideal acquisition. He has demonstrated his abilities in Italy and has the physicality and technical attributes to make it work in the Premier League as well.
Newcastle has a poor transfer window
Newcastle was very desperate in the market after missing out on some goals. They are trying to properly improve their squad before the new season begins. They have secured their qualifications for the Champions League for upcoming campaigns, and they can’t afford to head for a new season with the current set of players. To do well in multiple competitions, you need more depth and quality.
However, they have not been able to get most of the important targets ever. It will be interesting to see if they can strengthen their efforts and improve their team in the final weeks of the window.
They looked vulnerable at back last season, and signing a central defender is one of their priorities. They are also linked to Mark Guehee. They need to face elite Champions League attackers and improve in that area of the pitch.
