The first round of the 2025 US Open began on Sunday, featuring the top New York tennis talent center stage and some distinctive culinary creations.

The US open refreshment array is second to none. The event’s website offers food choices ranging from barbecues to lobster rolls to ramen, and lists 44 incredible spots for drinking and drinking.

However, the jewel in Queens’ crown is the honeydew cocktail. This drink combines vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur and honeydew melon balls. In 2024, more than 500,000 US openings were sold (per grey goose).

Honey Deuce cocktails have been around since 2006 and have appeared as a major part of the audience experience at the annual tournament. However, the US Open is not the only sporting event associated with signature concession items. Other notable sports experiences/snack pairings include:

Kentucky Derby and Mint Julep

Bourbon-based cocktails have been associated with Derby since the 19th century, and thus may be the most iconic sporting event drink of all. And even before his relationship with Churchill Downs, the cocktail was a Bluegrass State staple known for its high quality bourbon.

In 2025, the recurring fee for Mint Julep for the Kentucky Derby was $22 (tax). Race participants with a slightly more relaxed change can also choose between $1,000 (available in a refined Pewter cup) or $5,000 (available in a 24-carat gold-plated sterling silver cup).

Wimbledon, strawberries and cream

Wimbledon is another sporting event with a legendary food layout, but the top item on the famous tournament menu is strawberry and cream dishes, drawing an impressive line of customers every year.

This tradition dates back to the first edition of Wimbledon in the late 1870s, and centers around the timing of events on the calendar. The tournament that takes place in July will be held during the short window of the year when strawberries are available in the UK.

Baseball Games and Cracker Jack

One snack connected to the entire sport feels slippery at face value, but it is difficult to deny the cracker jack case as an informal food in baseball.

Snacks – a caramel-coated peanut and popcorn blend – drops the famous name for the 1908 song “Take Me Out To The Ball Game.” And while modern ballparks contain almost every possible food, more than a century of cracker jack remains a staple.

Masters and Masters Menu

In Master, iconography is not in the food or drink itself (although they are also memorable), but in the pricing.

Despite the never-ending waiting list for event tickets – therefore, there is one never-ending demand within Augusta National, but the Masters Menu (and its prices) remains frozen in time. Pimento cheese sandwiches will bring buyers back to $1.50. Bottle of water on a hot Georgia day? $2. The price of the Masters bargain is one of the most legendary traditions in the sports and food space.

Super Bowl and Wings

Certainly, this could be stretch. The Super Bowl Party comes with a notorious, lots of food and drinks. But if you choose a single staple, you will suffer by abdicated the wings.

Just check the number. According to a January 2025 survey conducted by Statista, chicken wings were ranked as the most common food eaten on Super Bowl Sunday in the US. The National Chicken Council predicted that Americans would consume 1.47 billion chicken wings this February than Super Bowl LIX.
