Chelsea will be reportedly getting another opportunity to sign AC Mike Maignan, goalkeeper for AC Milan, close to signing a new contract.
France International is approaching becoming a free agent, and he technically can begin negotiations with clubs from overseas from January onwards.
According to Calciomercato, Maignan’s Milan consultations on the new deal are completely stagnant and hopes for a renewal look very unlikely, so it seems likely that this is the most likely outcome now.
According to SkySport, Chelsea had links with Mainyan early in the summer, but no agreement was made to deal at the time.
Chelsea was able to return to Mike Meignan with a free transfer
Still, it is clear that Chelsea will have another opportunity to sign Mainyan if he still wants him. The 30-year-old is clearly not staying in Milan.
The CFC is doing very well to snap the Keeper of Maignan caliber with free transfers, as it is likely to be a massive upgrade of Robert Sanchez.
It’s not every day that such high quality players become free agents, so it’s a great opportunity for Chelsea to take advantage of.
But at the same time, I imagine that other big clubs could easily join the run for Meinyan’s signature.
If Mainyan really becomes a free agent, he will certainly be overflowing with offers.
However, Bruce has clearly come close to signing him this year, so he may be able to make players and terms faster and easier.
I imagine Milan keeps pushing to sign a new contract, as losing such a key player for free would be a big blow.
