Leeds United are set to make a big profit from two major midfielders, Ethan Ampadu and Tanaka’s expected return.

The two players are currently recovering from an injury to their medial collateral ligament (MCL) knee, according to Leeds Live.

Meanwhile, Sean Longstaff made the most of his opportunity with an impressive performance without two players. A summer signing from Newcastle United, Longstaff made his outstanding full home debut for Leeds against his former team.

He was impressed by his relentless work rate, defensive tenacity, and helped his team in the absence of Ampadu and Tanaka, who were sidelined with injuries. Leeds pays around £125 million to the former Newcastle midfielder and continues to perform at this level, the transfer could look like a big bargain.

With both Ampadu and Tanaka on the sidelines, Leeds had to adapt. Manager Daniel Fark revealed that the two players may be competing for equipment from mid- to late September. Ampadu is Leeds’ leader on and off Leeds, and Tanaka’s creative influence cannot be underestimated.

Will Leeds injuries increase soon?

The return of Ampadu and Tanaka will strengthen the competition in the mid-place locations, providing Farke with more choice and depth. Their returns have greatly boosted Leeds United’s hopes to maintain Premier League status, complement the shape of the long staff and renew their team’s midfield resilience and creativity.

Leeds United are looking to establish themselves as a regular in the Premier League as they don’t want to return to the championship at the end of the season. Fitting the key players is important throughout the season. Meanwhile, Fark is pleased with Longstaff’s performance and hopes that the 27-year-old can establish himself as an essential asset to the club this season.
