Sunderland completed its contract to sign Ajax’s Brian Brobby earlier this summer.
Sunderland signed the players for a fee of around 20 million euros, excluding the bonus. They hope he can establish himself as a key player for the club. The Black Cats are looking to establish themselves as a regular in the Premier League this season. They have been promoted to top flights and will become marked at the highest level.
Why did Brian Brobby join Sunderland?
Meanwhile, former Ajax and PSV forward Wim Kieft revealed at De Telegraaf that the only reason the player moved to Sunderland was because they had no other options. He also added that Sunderland signed him because he was an affordable option for them.
“In terms of transfers, Caspadlberg’s move from Brian Blobby’s Ajax to Sunderland and Andrlecht to Ajax is interesting. The Ajax Academy striker has failed with Ajax and Druberg has a second chance,” he said.
“Brobbey chose Sunderland because he had no choice. And Sunderland scored so many goals that he didn’t choose Brobbey. This is an affordable opportunity for the English side who is laughing at the 10 million euro transfer fee, excluding bonuses.”
Brobbey tries to make his mark
This transfer appears to have not been a preferred option for Sunderland or for players. However, the move is now in place, with the parties trying to make the most of their partnership.
Brobbey is doing very well in the Netherlands and is trying to prove his quality in the Premier League. Sunderland can use more cutting edge in the final third, and it remains to be seen if he can run to the ground.
Sunderland said the 23-year-old star was on his way out of the club soon.
