  • Gerrard reveals two most underrated colleagues

While Stephen Gerrard’s election as two of Liverpool’s most underrated teammates may make sense, Jurgen Klopp may not love one of his choices.

Liverpool teammates’ eclectic mix

Gerrard has a strong argument that he is the Reds’ greatest player of all time who enjoyed an extraordinary career at Anfield between 1998 and 2015.

The legendary former midfielder won the Liverpool captain in an unforgettable Champions League victory in 2005, winning multiple FA Cups and League Cups.

Gerrard has had several world-class teammates in Liverpool over the years, whether Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Zabi Alonso, to name just a few.

On the other hand, I once felt like the Reds icon was carrying too many average footballers. Instead, the trophy escaped him forever.

Gerrard reveals two most underrated colleagues

In an interview with GQ Magazine in 2015, shortly before leaving Liverpool, Gerrard said Didi Hamann and Dirk Kuyt were two of the most underrated teammates from their Reds careers.

“Good question. ER… Didi Hamman, everyone knows he’s in the class, but a lot of his job was for the team, not outstanding work. DirkKuyt was also a very selfless person.

It’s difficult to have too many quals about Gerrard’s choices. Haman and Kuit are two players who have made headlines by others, including the former skipper himself, often going under the radar.

Haman was a big shield in front of the defense, and had a sense of professional position that did not reveal his lack of pace. The way his halftime substitute in the 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan changed the game at that head summed up his influence.

Klopp may not be too delighted with Gerrard’s choice of German, but the former Liverpool manager had trouble with his fellow countrymen and he once reacted anger to criticism of him.

“Who said it? Didi Haman? Ah, great sources, great sources that are well respected everywhere. It doesn’t give you the right to say what you want.

As for Kuyt, he was Liverpool’s ultimate big game player, scoring big goals for Premier League Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton, losing to Milan in the final Champions League defeat in 2007.
