West Ham may have signed Callum Wilson, but hopes that new strikers will be added when the transfer window reopens in 2026. However, one of the main targets is no longer an option as he sealed the transfer elsewhere.
After Wilson arrives, West Ham manager Graham Potter has him and Niklas Fullkrag as a number nine option, but Jarrod Bowen can also work there if necessary. However, there are concerns for both strikers, given that they are 33 and 32 respectively. This creates long-term goals.
West Ham wanted Emmanuel Emega before Chelsea moved
And according to Graeme Bailey (via Hammers News), one of them was Emmanuel Emega, the outstanding performer of Strasbourg last season. However, it was confirmed earlier this week that Chelsea had reached an agreement to take him to Stamford Bridge, 22, starting next summer.
Liken to new Liverpool striker Alexander Isaac, Emega scored 14 goals in just 23 League One last season, attracting attention from many clubs, including West Ham. But the connection between Chelsea and Strasbourg meant they were always a favorite to get him.
The news means we are back to drawings for West Ham’s sports division, which is determined to sign the Young Striker Options in 2026. There are targets known for the front of the transfer period next summer, but for now, the process of searching for them begins again.
For now, we’ll focus on how Fullkrug and Wilson will reach this season. So far, only the latter has found the backstage of the net, and has done so two weeks ago in a 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
