  • Man United is expected to let Casemiro leave
  • United should start looking for alternatives to Casemiro

Manchester United is reportedly preparing for the final departure of midfielder Casemiro, suggesting the veteran has decided to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current season.

According to Trivella, there is a consensus that players are “to leave” at the end of the season and that agreements with the new club could be in work as early as January.

Casemiro’s current contract with United is set to expire next summer, but includes an additional 12 months option.

Clubs must agree to the players to revitalize that extra year. Sources, particularly from Brazilian outlet Trivella, show that Casemiro is unlikely to remain beyond the summer of 2026, whether or not the option is featured.

Despite his future decline at United, Casemiro remains a key figure under manager Reuben Amorim.

Man United is expected to let Casemiro leave

Although Casemiro is linked to his move to Saudi Arabia, under Amorim, his situation has evolved, and the Portuguese manager relies on the talents of Brazilian midfielders.

He is regularly paired with Bruno Fernandez in the middle, but players like Manuel Ugarte and Cobby Meinu still look at their footing.

Casemiro, who won multiple Champions League titles against Real Madrid before moving to England, may be looking to return to his hometown or club.

At United, he has a massive salary. Letting him go has both financial and sporting benefits for the club, as he needs to balance the pressures of financial fair play with the book.

It is more difficult to maintain his level in a tough role, as Casemiro ages. He may prefer a new environment where he can play an important role rather than risking fade out.

Casemiro’s departure will leave a big gap in United’s midfield. His ability to break up plays, defend defenses and bring experience in big matches was important, even in mixed seasons.

Nothing is guaranteed yet, but the signs suggest that both the player and the club are preparing for life without him.

Expect to increase speculation about his destination until January. Meanwhile, United’s leadership must plan ways to replace one of the modern greats in the midfield.
